Stock up, Load up and Be Prepared
A Part-time air guardsman works as a checker at local Von's. Two women in full burkas buy every pre-paid cellphone in the store. Clerk/airman gets to thinking about it. Goes to Cotter and reports incident. Cotter asks store for surveillance video. It's scary enough that he contacts Fresno FBI.
FBI investigates and determines these women have been doing this all over the Valley. Cell phones shipped through Canada to Iraq/Afghanistan where they become triggers for roadside bombs.
The Shell station at Peach and Shaw. Every time a local GI goes there in fatigues they are asked specific questions. What is your unit? When are you deploying? How many aircraft are you taking?
The F-16s out of Fresno fly CAP for west coast. As such they are the first line of defense so they have the US 's most sophisticated air-to-air missiles. Foreign
governments would like to get their hands on those missiles or at least learn how to build them. Also how many we have, etc. Two spy groups are working on it, one based at Fashion Fair Mall (the F-16s take-off pattern) and one based at Sierra Vista Mall (the F-16s landing pattern).
Cotter said the ragheads (But we don't profile.) are always probing the base. Two dorks in a pickup show up at the front gate wanting to deliver a package marked Air National Guard, Fresno . No postage, no UPS, no FedEx, no DHL, no nothing. Just a probe.
I asked Cotter why we haven't seen anything about this in The Bee, on KMJ, on local TV news. He said they're not interested. Since Friday I've learned of two other things. My brother-in-law Frank, (management at Avaya) had a Muslim tech who took a leave-of-absence for 6 weeks in Afghanistan . After the 6 weeks were up he called from New York requesting an
extension. Frank (who does profile) said, you're fired, and called the Fresno FBI who were very interested. Don't know the outcome.
A Muslim who owns a liquor store in my former hometown of Kingsburg was constantly bugging customers to buy guns for him. Finally one of the guys I grew up with called the FBI.
We are a country at war and the enemy is among us. I don't care what Janet Napolitano says, it's a fight to the death and we should be prepared as possible. Brother-in-law Frank has a theory and I think it may be closer to the truth than Homeland Security wants to admit. There are a certain number (probably a large number) of Muslims among us who are awaiting the trigger date and will begin randomly killing as many of us as they can, sort of a Fort Hood on steroids. I know I'm getting prepared to shoot back.
Two items of interest: Sheriff Margaret Mims wants to grant concealed carry
permits to all who are qualified. Columnist Jim Boren, among the most bleeding of the bleeding heart liberals, says it's time for Fresno residents to arm themselves. LOAD up, you can bet this is happening in places other than Fresno. ~ David Rayburn
P.S.: I was asked to send this to everyone in my address book. Some of those I'm sending it to WILL NOT! To those I say, "Get you head out of the sand and look around with an open mind or before you know it we will no longer be living in the land of the free and the brave!

Gun Control... What Happens When Guns Are Removed From Society
Crime control or defense control, that is the question. Great Britain has, for all practical purposes, outlawed the private possession of firearms. Since the initiation of the prohibition, crime rates have soared and there are individuals in prison as a result of defending their homes with deadly force. Now British politicians have taken a next step which American gun-control groups have uniformly promised to be an absurdity – knife control. The government recently granted a five week knife amnesty period. During that time, even paring knives were turned in for disposal.
Such foreign antics should activate alarms for Americans as we watch our own anti-gun (ultimately anti-self-defense) politicians, activists and media expose their foreign-style philosophies and goals. As they ply their wares to the public and demonstrate a profound mistrust of ordinary law-abiding citizens, they also propagate firearm myths.
Guns in homes do not cause increased danger. The vast majority of both harmful and beneficial firearm incidents occur outside of homes and only eight percent of them by significantly related persons. There are six times more defensive gun uses (DGU’s) in the U.S. than there are aggressive uses. Of these DGU’s, the risk of death to the defender (where there is no criminal background) is three quarters of one-thousandth of one percent. Twelve out of thirteen suicides studies found that gun availability does not affect numbers of suicides. At school, firearm deaths are around thirty per year but two thousand youth are killed by their own parents and care-givers each year. In 1997, in Britain, there was a forty-four percent burglary rate compared to thirteen percent in America. Twenty-five times more youth are killed in automobile accidents then by firearms as well as six times more by drowning, four times more by fires and thirty-five times more by other causes.
Competing statistics do not take into account drug and alcohol involvement, criminal histories, gang involvement, sacio-economic status, percent of suicides, or whether the gun used was owned or kept by the home owner. A more effective way to control deaths and injuries would be to outlaw fire, swimming, cars, caregivers, and parents.
Abuse of the Constitution through Clintonian parsing of words and free-handed revision of history is a worse threat to Americans than guns. In spite of authoritative testimony from the likes of Madison, Adams, Jefferson and Henry or instruction from experts such as Tucker, Rawle, Story and Coxe, revisionists try to make Second Amendment words “keep” mean “store in a government armory” instead of “own” and “bear” to mean “use in the military” instead of “carry”. In order to accomplish their goals they are willing to turn the English language on its head thereby using the text against itself.
Civil liberty is at stake also. The fourth Amendment forbids search and seizure without probable cause. But the only way to enforce ownership prohibition is house-to-house searches or seizures conducted in completely unrelated law enforcement activities. Already, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is able to ignore probable cause or lack of criminal intent when enforcing The Gun Control Act of 1968. If the text of the Second Amendment can be so maligned, which other liberties will follow?

HOW MANY GUNS IS TOO MANY HOW MANY GUNS IS TOO FEW
Here’s the deal; you don’t tell me how many guns I should own and I won’t tell you how many kids you should have.
For many years gun owners have defended their choice of owning more than one gun. Conversely, non-gun owners have also defended their choice of owning no guns at all. It is a problem that isn’t going to go away anytime soon. And that’s okay. We live in a free (so far) country and can make our own choices as it relates to our personal safety.
I would suggest to you that there is no “right” answer.
If you chose not to own a gun then I believe that you are at some time or another going to be faced with a life-or-death situation in which you’ll realize that you should have owned at least one gun. But for discussion’s sake let’s assume that you do own a gun. The question then becomes how many should you own and why?
If you own a gun, and I believe that everyone should own at least one, then you should have more than one. My logic behind this belief is this: If you’re in your home and someone kicks in the door and rushes toward you with what is clearly the intent of doing you great bodily harm and you are armed you will be able to defend yourself. However, if you are in your home and that person kicks in the back door while you are upstairs getting ready for bed and the only gun you have is locked in the gun safe downstairs there is a good chance that you will die. Would it not be better to have more than one gun available in your home? By having more than one gun and having them strategically placed throughout the home you have a far better chance of survival in a critical life-threatening situation.
The same holds true when you are out of your home at work, shopping or wherever you might be. If you’re attacked and the primary weapon fails to function properly what do you do? Well, how about going for the hidden back-up weapon that you have wisely decided to carry with you? After you’ve survived this encounter I don’t think you’d ever say to yourself “boy I’m glad I didn’t have a second weapon with me cause that would have been just too many guns and far too heavy to carry all the time.” No, you’ll say “I’m sure glad that I took with me the 38 snub-nose revolver as my back up today. That darn semi-auto jammed up after the first shot.” Police officers carry a back-up weapon. So should you.
Thus far we’ve discussed having one (or more) hand guns. What about other weapons of self-defense and survival? What should you own that will provide safety and survival for you and your family other than a hand gun?
I truly believe that a shotgun of not less than 20 gauge, a 22 rim fire rifle and a high caliber rifle such as a 223 is also required to ensure your survival and safety. And of course if you own one of each you should own two of each as a back-up system of survival. Malfunctions do occur at the most inopportune times.
Most pragmatic gun owners recognize the value of embracing the policy of “own no more weapons than you can handle.” And I agree with that. You shouldn’t own anymore weapons than you can take with you in a bug-out situation. Take them with you and survive. However, in your home those weapons must be available at all times. So what do you do? I’ve always believed that if you own one you should own two of each. That way, if you have to bug out for any reason, you’ll have everything available quickly all packed up and ready to go.
Ammunition is also a concern. Having all types of weapons that require different ammunition can be a challenge. Hand guns I believe should all be of the same caliber thereby eliminating the need to have different ammo for different guns. With your shotgun you also should own just one caliber. And the 22 rim fire is just that, a 22 caliber rifle. For me I have the personal policy of buying one box of ammo for each weapon out of every check I get each week from my work. That way I’m assured of having enough plus more should the need arise. It doesn’t do any good to have a weapon if you don’t have the ammunition to use in it.
So, how many guns are too many? To the utter consternation of the hard-liners on both sides of this issue, the answer probably really is “to each his own.” In the realm of guns, as in most anything in life, “one man’s just enough is another man’s too much. So like I said in the beginning…
You don’t tell me how many guns I should own and I won’t tell you how many kids you should have.
P.S. Consider this: If a woman chooses to own three thousand pairs of shoes does she wear all of them at the same time? No, she owns them so they are available when she needs them. In my opinion you should own several guns… not that you’ll use them all at the same time but they will be available when you need them.
Be safe, be prepared and always be armed.
